
The U.S. Government portion of the Social Studies Scholarship is a scaled down version of the Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation's High School Internet Challenge. Questions selected for this scholarship are likely to be the basic information a student would see in the first several chapters of any U.S. Government text book. The topics include:

- Political Beliefs and Behaviors
- Political Parties, Interest Groups, and Mass Media
- The Congress, the Presidency, and the Federal Courts
- Public Policy
- Civil Rights and Civil Liberties
